WA set to end 2023 with more than 80 reasons to smile

It’s been a year to remember for WA players, with Lotterywest recording the most Division One winners in a calendar year since 2016.

With a little more than two weeks left in 2023, 81 Division One winners from WA have shared in more than $215 million.

Lotterywest spokesperson Emma Rogers said the City of Stirling is set to finish the year with the most Division One winners for 2023.

“This year, the City of Stirling has been home to six Division One winners, sharing in $7 million,” she said.

“The Cities of Perth, Swan and Wanneroo were not too far behind either, each celebrating four winners across the year.

“Out of these 81 winners, 62 prizes were worth $1 million or more.

“With the Saturday Lotto’s Megadraw coming up on 30 December, we’re hoping to see 2023’s final winners totals climb, with the draw notoriously creating WA millionaires.

“We know many West Aussies play Lotto for a life-changing Division One prize, but because Lotterywest is the only government owned and operated lottery in Australia, it means all available profits go back to the WA community.”

In July Lotterywest marked a new financial year record for community supporting 489 grants and returning $351.5 million supporting government and community organisations around WA.

This month, Lotterywest’s latest round of grants will see millions of dollars provided to community organisations focused on emergency relief.

“So far this year, Lotterywest has provided 47 grants worth $5.8 million towards WA groups targeting emergency relief, with more grants to come this month,” Ms Rogers said.

“This includes a $280,000 grant towards the Spiers Centre in Heathridge, which is supporting relief including vouchers, clothing, personal care packs, assistance with utility bills and one-off payments to stabilise or secure housing.”
