Lotterywest has delivered more than $1 billion to the Western Australian community in the form of lottery prizes and grants in financial year 2024-25, thanks to WA players and retailers.
Strong lottery sales resulted in more than $380 million in Lotterywest statutory allocations and discretionary grants delivered to support the WA community.
Last financial year, 395 not-for-profit groups and local governments benefitted from 438 discretionary grants totalling $151.4 million, the largest amount returned to the community in Lotterywest’s 90 plus year history.
From $3,000 for an outdoor children’s play space in Dunsborough, to $2.8 million to the City of Melville to revitalise a community space and celebrate local Noongar culture, the positive impact of Lotterywest’s grants is felt across the State.
Discretionary grants were delivered alongside statutory allocations of almost $229 million supporting WA’s health, sports and arts sector, enabling them to continue to deliver positive outcomes for the community.
Perth Festival and Screenwest received their most significant grants to date, with Screenwest receiving $10.7 million in Lotterywest support and $9.5 million to Perth Festival.
WA players shared more than $650 million in prizes, including 82 Division One lottery prizes and 50 Scratch’n’Win top prizes.
The largest prizes in 2024-25 were two $30 million Powerball wins, both shared by a group of players.
Lotterywest CEO Colin Smith said supporting WA communities is at the heart of what we do at Lotterywest, and it’s wonderful to see the difference our grants have made in the past year.
Lotterywest grants support communities across the State, from helping The People Place Busselton enrich people’s lives in the South West, to enabling the Pilbara Ranger Network care for WA’s diverse Pilbara region,” Mr Smith said.
“It’s thanks to WA players and the predominantly small businesses across the State that sell our games that Lotterywest can deliver these returns for the WA community.”
Western Australia uniquely has the only State Government owned and operated lottery in the country, with all available profits from Lotterywest tickets benefitting the WA community for more than 90 years.
