Tradie turns out to be mystery Wanneroo winner

A Wanneroo local has come forward as the missing Western Australian winner who took out a $2.8 million prize in the recent $20 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw.

The Slikpik 50 was bought from Wanneroo Winners Lotto Kiosk and the man said he had no idea he’d won the ‘big one’ until his brother checked the ticket he’d been keeping on his refrigerator all week.

“He’d read a news story that there’d been a Lotto winner from Wanneroo, so he checked the ticket when he realised it was from that shop,” the man said.

“He told me that I’d won and I couldn’t believe it…I still can’t!”

The man said that he wanted to share the winnings with his family and buy his own house where he would celebrate his good fortune with a modest housewarming party.

WA is celebrating back-to-back Saturday Lotto prize winners after Wagin Newsagency sold a Division One ticket worth $2.5 million in Saturday’s $10 million special event.

Lotterywest spokesperson Sam Clark said it was great to see regional WA produce a big win.

“It's the tenth Division One win from regional WA this year,” Mr Clark said

“It contributes to our tally of 51 in 2021, who have shared in more than $100 million in prize money.”

The winning ticket sold from Wagin Newsagency, which remains unclaimed, comes during National Newsagent Week (11 September 2021 – 18 September 2021).

National Newsagent Week 2021 celebrates newsagents across Australian and their important role in the community.

Western Australians have another chance to win big in tonight's $20 million OZ Lotto draw. Tickets can be purchased in-store, online or via the app up until 6pm on the day of draw.
