Sleepless night for Cockburn Lotto winner

The owner of Wednesday’s Division One winning ticket said the discovery of her $1 million prize was a welcome interruption to her bedtime routine.

The woman in her late 20s and living in the City of Cockburn purchased a Slikpik 40 online.

“I said goodnight to my partner and was about to put my phone away and go to sleep, but decided to check my ticket first,” she said.

“When I saw that I’d won, I started screaming and was in complete shock.

“I put my phone in my partner's face saying, ‘is this real?’

“I called my sister straight away and she just said, ‘you’re joking’, and didn’t believe me.”

The winner had been dreaming of buying a house and said she will use her prize to get into the property market.

The good news continues for WA, with a Super66 ticket from The Lucky Charm in Meadow Springs now worth more than $146,000 thanks to Saturday’s draw.

Lotterywest spokesperson Emma Rogers said attention has now turned to Thursday’s potential record-breaking $100 million jackpot.

“If a WA player takes home the entire $100 million Division One prize, it will be the biggest win for the State on record,” she said.

Powerball tickets can be purchased until 6pm Thursday, in-store, online and via the Lotterywest App.
