Sleep in attempt ruined thanks to Set for Life win

A southern suburbs players attempt to sleep in after a busy work week was interrupted by a call from Lotterywest, informing them their ticket was worth $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.

The woman in her 50’s bought a Set for Life ticket, that matched the numbers to a Division One prize earlier this month.

As the ticket was registered online, Lotterywest contacted the winner to encourage them to check their numbers.

“I was trying to have a little sleep in after a busy week at work when the phone rang out of the blue,” the winner said.

“It was Lotterywest asking me if I had checked the numbers to our Set for Life game, it took me a while to process why they were calling.

“I couldn’t believe it, I put them on speakerphone so my husband could hear, this kind of news is meant to happen to other people, not us.”

The couple said the win has fast tracked their plans for retirement and opened the door to help support their grandchildren for years to come.

Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said four WA players have already taken out the $4.8 million prize this year.

“These four wins mean WA is home to the most Set for Life Division One winners for 2023,” he said.

“Since the game’s launch in 2015, the most Set for Life winners WA has had in a year is three, so it’s fantastic to have broken that record with four winners given we’re still in February.”

Lotterywest is eagerly waiting to hear from a trio of Division One winners from Saturday Lotto’s Superdraw earlier this month, with each of those tickets worth more than $1.25 million.

The next chance to win is in Saturday Lotto’s $5 million draw.

Tickets are available from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app until 6pm draw day.
