Seven month old million-dollar Lotto ticket claimed by Karrinyup woman

A million-dollar ticket which has been sitting unclaimed in Western Australia for more than seven months, has finally been claimed.

The woman from Karrinyup, said she was aware of her win for months but had been waiting for the right time to claim her prize.

“I had it hidden safely in a secret hiding spot at home,” she said.

“Even though I’ve known about the win for a while, it still doesn’t feel real.”

The woman purchased her ticket from The Lucky Charm Gwelup in a Monday Lotto draw held in December last year.

Meanwhile, WA has produced another Monday Lotto millionaire overnight.

A family from Maida Vale wasted no time in claiming their prize today.

“I was on my way to bed last night when I thought I’d check my ticket,” the mum of the family said.

“We initially thought we’d won half a million, and then today we realised it was $1 million - we simply couldn’t believe it!”

The family said the win was life changing.

“There’s been so many times we have lived week to week,” the father said.

“We’ve rented all our lives, and now we can purchase our first home.

“This also means making more family memoires as it gives us the ability to work less and spend more time with all our kids.”

Last night’s million-dollar ticket was purchased through a Lotterywest membership online.

It contributes to the fast-growing tally of Division One winners across the State so far this year, which has now reached 45.

The next big chance for WA players is in this weekend’s $20 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw.

Tickets are available until 6pm draw day from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.
