Seafood celebrations for Saturday Lotto syndicate winner

A Lake Coogee woman in her 70s has come forward as one of the 15 syndicate members who shared a $2.6 million Division One prize in last weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.

The winning syndicate ticket was a System 10 and was organised by Spearwood Heights Newsagency.

The ticket holder has been regularly taking part in the retailer syndicate for the past 25 years, and revealed she almost missed her chance to be part of the winning team.

“I forgot to join the syndicate last week, thank goodness I didn’t miss out on this week!” she said.

“When I was told that we’d won, I nearly fell over.

“I went to do my groceries after and can’t even remember what I bought.”

When asked how the ticket holder celebrated her win, she confessed to treating herself to a seafood lunch at the pub.

“Crayfish or lobster wasn’t on the menu, so I settled for crab linguine,” she joked.

The ticket holder plans to split her $185,000 share of the Division One prize with her children and grandchildren.

Lotterywest spokesperson Emma Rogers said it’s been incredible to have two WA syndicates share in Division One prizes in as many weeks.

“We’re hoping that a third WA syndicate can take home another Division One prize this week,” she said.

“Syndicates can be organised with friends, family or colleagues, or players can join an existing syndicate at their local Lotterywest store."

In more good news for WA, a ticket purchased online matched the numbers for a Division Two prize of more than $66,000 in last night's OZ Lotto jackpot.

The next chance for West Aussies to get a group together and create a syndicate is for Powerball’s $12 million jackpot held tomorrow night.

Tickets are available until 6pm on Thursday from Lotterywest in-store, online and via the App.
