Saturday Lotto’s $2 million winner kicks butt

A Fremantle man, who used part of the money he saved from quitting smoking towards Saturday Lotto, is now the owner of a $2 million windfall.

The man in his 60’s came forward this week to claim his multi-million prize thanks to his ticket from Hamilton Hill Newsagency.

“I’ve been a regular player of Lotto,” he said.

“I started playing with the money I saved when I quit smoking and all of my efforts have been realised – I could not be more thrilled.”

The ticket was part of five Division One prizes from Saturday’s draw sold throughout the country, now worth $2 million each.

“I read the news on Sunday and realised the winning ticket was from the store I bought mine from,” the winner said.

“There was a lot of double checking.”

There’s now $100 million up for grabs for WA players thanks to this week’s OZ Lotto and Powerball draws.

“OZ Lotto has jackpotted to $20 million, while Powerball is sitting at $80 million,” Lotterywest spokesperson Hermione Coleman said.

“Thursday’s $80 million Powerball draw is the equal biggest jackpot offered to players this year.

“The last time we saw one of our games jackpot to these heights was in August and before that April and on both occasions the prize was won.”

Tickets are on sale up until 6pm on draw day in-store, online or via the app.
