A Perth couple in their late 40s have claimed a $2 million Saturday Lotto prize thanks to a lunch break in Harvey.
The couple were driving through Harvey when they decided to stop for lunch. After lunch, they went into Harvey Newsagency and purchased a Saturday Lotto ticket on a whim.
Thanks to the last-minute ticket purchase for Saturday Lotto’s $10 million special event, the winning couple have taken home a $2 million prize.
When visiting Lotterywest HQ to claim their prize, the couple said they are still in shock after finding out about their win.
“I checked the ticket at our local newsagency and was in complete shock when they quietly told me I had won,” the winner said.
“I’m still in shock to be honest, it’s life-changing news.
“I usually register all my tickets to my membership for safe-keeping but didn’t this time for no reason in particular.
“Thank goodness I didn’t lose the ticket!”
The couple are planning a family holiday with their prize and will use the winnings to make life more comfortable.
“It really takes the pressure off,” they said.
Lotterywest spokesperson Sarah Dawson said last weekend’s win was Western Australia’s 40th Saturday Lotto Division One win of the year.
“Saturday Lotto continues to deliver for WA players, and we’ve celebrated 40 Division One Saturday Lotto wins so far this year, with those players sharing more than $53 million in prizes,” she said.
“Thanks to all of our Saturday Lotto players, more than $81 million has been raised for Lotterywest’s grants program so far in 2025, which supports initiatives and events across the State that benefit the WA community.”
A Lotterywest grant of $950,000 is supporting the Perth Royal Show, kicking off next Saturday 27 September until Saturday 4 October.
WA players have the chance to become a multi-millionaire in tonight's $12 million Powerball jackpot.
Tickets are available until 6pm in-store, online and via the Lotterywest App.
