New campaign to thank WA Lotto players

Lotterywest has joined forces with local comedian Dave Callan to say thanks to WA Lotto players for the contribution they are making to the WA community.

In a new Lotterywest brand campaign, Dave, dubbed the people’s champion, can be seen running around WA streets shouting out his catch-cry ‘That’s the Ticket’ to remind players that every Lotto ticket they buy goes towards good stuff for WA.

Lotterywest and Healthway CEO Ralph Addis said research has shown that many West Australian’s weren’t aware that all available profits from the sale of Lotto tickets goes back to the WA community.

“Even if you’re not a big prize winner when you play Lotto, you’re helping other people in the WA community win,” Mr Addis said.

“Last year alone, thanks to WA Lotto players and Lotterywest retailers, we were able to deliver almost $865 million to the local community through grants and prizes.

“Through this campaign we say thank you for playing and thank you for making the WA community such a great place to live.”

Dressed in his Lotterywest activewear, Dave encourages WA to come together and shout ‘That’s the Ticket’ while showcasing a number of grant funded projects:

  • Midvale Skate Park - the City of Swan received a Lotterywest grant of up to $1 million for the construction of the skate park.

  • Foodbank trucks – a Lotterywest grant of around $330,000 supports new and improved ways to deliver food relief and associated programs including four mobile Foodbank trucks.

  • St Patricks Community Support Centre – the Centre received a $2.2 million Lotterywest grant towards the 'My Home' project to reduce homelessness in WA. This included the construction of 18 architecturally designed modular houses.

  • Men’s Sheds of WA - received a Lotterywest grant of around $533,000 which included the construction of 80 Men’s sheds.

Other projects that will feature in the campaign include the Blue Tree Project and Lionheart Camp for Kids.

The campaign will launch on WA Day, Monday 6 June, with Dave joining the celebrations at Burswood Park on the Lotterywest Community Stage.

Lotterywest grants are allocated in line with our vision to 'build a better Western Australia together' with the WA community.

Lotterywest is uniquely the only Government owned and operated lottery in Australia, supporting the community for almost 90 years.
