A long-term routine paid off for a Mount Lawley family, coming forward as one of the owners of a $1 million Division One Saturday Lotto prize.
The family’s weekly Saturday Lotto routine led them to purchase a ticket from Flinders Square Lucky Lotto.
That ticket is now worth $1,015,392.
“You could almost say ad nauseam we would buy a ticket every Saturday,” the winner said.
“It was the fourth line down, all I did was tick the six numbers and I thought ‘that seems silly’, so I checked with my husband.
“The family had a mixed reaction when we told them we had some news, some thought illness at first.”
This ticket was one of two $1 million prizes from Saturday, with the owner of a ticket from Byford Newsagency still a mystery.
Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said almost $118 million has been won by WA Division One winners in 2021.
“Saturday's draw also produced 17 Division Two winners, with each prize worth more than $10,000,” Mr Mooney said.
“In fact, more than 161,000 WA players matched the numbers to a prize from Saturday’s draw, so even if you didn’t buy your ticket from Byford Newsagency, we recommend you check your ticket.”
This week is Responsible Gambling Awareness Week (8-14 November) and Lotterywest encourages all players to play responsibly. More information is available at www.gambleaware.com.au.
