Three-decade charm for Saturday Lotto work mates

An unofficial syndicate using the same numbers for more than three decades have finally had their numbers come through for a Division One win.

The group of nine work mates from Albany, who purchased a Payslip 12 game have come into Lotterywest to claim their win.

Their Saturday Lotto ticket from Clark’s Newsagency is now worth $648,000.

“I purchased the ticket as part of my usual routine on a Friday,” the ticket holder said.

“The owner of the store told me a customer had left 50 cents on top of the newsagency door as a good luck charm, and it seems like it worked.”

Purchasing a boat and a deposit for a first home were just some of the ideas the group members had for spending their prize.

With a baby due next month, one group member said the win came at the perfect time.
Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said attention has now turned to Thursday’s $60 million Powerball jackpot.

“It would be fantastic to celebrate another WA syndicate win after Thursday’s $60 million Powerball draw,” he said.

“The past two Division One wins from WA have been syndicates, so we’re crossing our fingers that

Thursday’s draw can make it number three.”

Thanks to WA players, Lotterywest was able to support Albany Pride Incorporated with a $15,000 grant towards Albany Pride Fair Day, which is one of many grants supporting the community in Albany.
