A couple in their 60s have come forward to claim one of Western Australia’s two Saturday Lotto Division One prizes from this past weekend.
Saturday’s winning ticket was purchased as a spur-of-the-moment decision just before closing time at Phoenix Lotteries in Spearwood and is now worth more than $2.16 million.
The couple, who live in the City of Fremantle, looked up the winning numbers online on Sunday and realised they had all six.
“We’re still in shock – it only started sinking in when we walked through the doors [at Lotterywest HQ],” the winner said.
The couple plan to pay off their bills, renovate their house and travel with family.
Lotterywest spokesperson Emma Rogers said it was exciting to welcome another winner to the Lotterywest Winners’ Room in September.
“It’s been a huge month for WA winners – one Powerball player won $20 million, another player took home $7.5 million in OZ Lotto, and three Saturday Lotto winners shared $6.32 million,” she said.
“We’re hoping this winning streak carries through into October.”
The next chance for WA players to win is in tonight’s $20 million Powerball jackpot, with tickets available in-store, online and via the App until 6pm draw day.
