Fremantle man discovers Set for Life win during work commute

A Fremantle man had the best excuse for being late to work after realising he had won $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.

The man in his 60’s was heading to work when he received a call out of the blue from Lotterywest, informing him his Set for Life ticket had matched the numbers to a Division One prize.

“I got a phone call just as I was about to reverse out of the driveway and head to work,” he said.

“I ran back into the house to tell my wife the news, however it took some time for her to believe me.”

“I ended up being late for work.”

Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said, the Fremantle man’s ticket was one of two WA Set for Life winners from last week.

“Since Set for Life’s launch in 2015, WA has seen 17 Lotterywest players take home the prize of $20,000 a month for 20 years,” Mr Mooney said.

“It’s only January and here we are celebrating two Set for Life winners for 2023, we’re hoping this upward trend continues.”

Another WA player enjoyed a win thanks to Monday Lotto, with the player taking home $1 million.

Last night's Division One winning ticket was purchased online.

The next chance for players to win big is in tonight’s $5 million OZ Lotto draw.

Tickets are available until 6pm on draw day in-store, online or via the app.
