Consistency pays off for Saturday Lotto winner

Western Australians will be crossing their fingers and hoping the winning feeling continues ahead of tonight’s $30 million OZ Lotto jackpot.

WA’s winning streak kicked off on Thursday night after 55 women from a northern suburbs gym shared in the entire $80 million Powerball jackpot, followed by three West Aussies who won more than $580,000 each in Saturday Lotto.

Two of the winners from Saturday lotto have come forward to officially claim their prize, including a Yangebup man in his 40’s, who realised he had the winning numbers late yesterday on his day off from work.

“My family didn’t take much notice of me until I started calling out the numbers,” he said.

“I started screaming around the house in my jocks.”

The winner, who purchased his ticket from Phoenix Newsagency in Spearwood, said consistency had finally paid off.

“I’ve been playing the same combo pack for a couple of years; I was about to change my tack for this draw but decided to stick with it.”

He plans to pay off his mortgage and buy a new car.

The second winner to come forward, a Mandurah FIFO worker, bought his ticket from Miami Newsagency in Falcon.

Lotterywest is still waiting to hear from Saturday’s third Division One winner, with the ticket produced from The Lucky Charm Newsagency in Willetton.

Western Australians have another opportunity to share that winning feeling in tonight’s $30 million OZ Lotto jackpot, before one of the biggest planned draws of the year, the $40 million Megadraw, goes up for grabs on New Year’s Eve.

Tickets are available from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.
