A Banksia Grove couple are splashing out on a seafood omelette and extra spring rolls thanks to a $1.4 million Saturday Lotto prize.
The couple were none the wiser about their Division One win until they saw a post on their community social media page about a winning ticket sold at Banksia Grove News, which prompted them to check their numbers.
When visiting Lotterywest HQ to verify their winning Slikpik 18 ticket, the couple said they plan to help family and take time off work to travel around Australia in their caravan.
“Money shouldn’t change you, but this will absolutely take the pressure off,” the winner said.
“We’d love to fly to Melbourne for the AFL Grand Final. We’ve never been before and now we can go.
“I think we’ll treat ourselves to a seafood omelette at our local Chinese tonight.
“And maybe some extra spring rolls. We’re not flashy people. It’s all about enjoying the little things in life.”
Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender said Saturday Lotto has been good to WA players, with another WA ticket matching the numbers to a Division One prize in Saturday Lotto’s 2 August draw.
“We are still waiting to hear from the owner of a winning ticket sold from The Lucky Charm Rockingham,” she said.
“It was wonderful to welcome this Banksia Grove couple into the Lotterywest winner’s room and we look forward to meeting the ticketholder from Rockingham soon.”
Lotterywest grants support WA communities across the State, thanks to funds raised from all available profits from every Lotto ticket purchased.
A Lotterywest grant of $15,000 is supporting the Challenge Brass Band with equipment enabling them to build new membership and engage in key events across Wanneroo's diverse community.
