A Bunbury couple who purchased a Millionaire Medley ticket while waiting for their son to get a haircut are celebrating a $1 million win.
The couple recently visited Lotterywest HQ to claim their Division One Millionaire Medley prize, which was purchased from Lakers News in Lakelands.
The winner said a random visit to Mandurah turned into a life-changing decision.
“If I ever travel to a unique or different area, I’ll visit a Lotterywest retailer,” she said.
“As my son was getting a haircut, I decided to grab a ticket rather than sit there and wait.”
This split-second decision led to the couple winning a $1 million prize.
The winner said while the prize will make life much more enjoyable, for now, they are letting the incredible news settle in before they make any big decisions.
Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said it’s been a great month for Lotto players in Western Australia, with several Division One winners visiting Lotterywest’s Winner’s Room.
“In the space of a little more than a week, Lotterywest has created four new WA millionaires, thanks to Saturday Lotto and Millionaire Medley,” he said.
“This year, WA has celebrated 28 Division One winners and it would be great to see this tally grow following tonight’s $50 million OZ Lotto jackpot.”
Lotterywest is the only State Government owned and operated lottery in the country where all available profits are returned to the WA community in the form of grants.
A Lotterywest grant of $29,000 has recently been provided to Mandurah Wildlife Rescue for equipment and training to support volunteers engaged in the care and rehabilitation of wildlife.
Tickets for tonight’s $50 million OZ Lotto draw are available until 6pm in-store, online and via the Lotterywest App.
