Birthday celebrations get an upgrade after Saturday Lotto win

Postponed birthday celebrations due to the pandemic are back on the cards and set to be bigger than ever after two couples won a share of Saturday Lotto’s $30 million Megadraw on the 30 July 2022.

“My 50th was in 2020, and the plan was for the four of us to go to Europe to celebrate, however the pandemic had other plans,” one of the winners said.

“This win has really boosted our holiday fund, so I think the 50th celebrations are back on the cards, only this time we’ll be going business class.”

Worth $2.1 million, the ticket was purchased from Rossmoyne Newsagency and was among 14 tickets across the country to match the winning numbers.

The winners, who have been playing together for over 20 years, said the best part of playing Lotto is knowing it helps WA.

“We’ve been playing Lotto together basically since we met, and we love it,” one winner said.

“We love knowing that our money stays in WA and supports so many great projects.

“And now we’ve won! It’s all pretty surreal.”

This week players have not one, but two opportunities to take home $20 million with both Powerball and Saturday Lotto jackpotting to the multi-million-dollar amount.

For the first time in Saturday Lotto history, no one across the country matched the numbers to last week’s special $10 million event, seeing it jackpot and delivering a surprise $20 million Superdraw this weekend.

“This is a highly unusual draw,” Lotterywest spokesperson Alana Christian.

“This is the first time this has happened with a special $10 million event and is only the fifth time in the past 15 years that a Saturday Lotto draw has jackpotted at all.”

Tickets are available from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app until 6pm draw day.
