Beechboro couple claim double the win

A Beechboro couple has come forward to claim not one, but two of the weekend’s Saturday Lotto Division One prizes.

Purchased from separate stores, each ticket is worth almost $1 million, bringing their grand total prize winnings to almost $2 million.

During their visit to Lotterywest to claim their prizes, the couple said it was simply part of their routine to buy tickets from different stores using the same numbers.

“I went to the Morley store to repeat the numbers on one of my previously purchased tickets,” the woman said.

“Turns out that ticket, plus the one I had purchased from the Claremont store, matched all the winning numbers from Saturday night’s draw making them both Division One winners.”

The woman said she woke her husband as soon as she realised the news.

“He thought something was wrong with our cat,” she said.

“I just had to sit there and shake my head in disbelief, it was incredible.”

The two winning tickets purchased by the Beechboro couple were from Claremont Newsagency and Morley Millions.

WA’s third Division One ticket from the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw, also worth almost $1 million, remains unclaimed. It was sold from Seacrest Newsagency in Wandina.

The State’s trifecta of Lotto wins comes days after Lotterywest announced a record-breaking year of returns to the WA community in 2020-21.

Almost $850 million was returned to WA through lottery prizes and grants. This included 81 Division One winners who shared in almost $150 million.

The next chance to win big is in this Thursday’s $20 million Powerball jackpot.

Tickets are available until 6pm draw day from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.
