Each winner has their own unique story or plan for their life changing win. Here are some of the amazing stories we heard in the Winners Room for 2022-23.

Charity the focus for $20 million OZ Lotto win

A couple’s 35-year wait paid off after claiming the entire $20 million OZ Lotto Division 1 prize. The ticket, sold from Hocking News, was the only Division 1 winning ticket of the draw.

“The chance to cut back at work is wonderful, but my priority is to give money to charity, we are now in a position to help other people,” the winner said.

Perth man’s $1.6 million mobile phone

A Dawesville man has walked around with Perth’s most expensive mobile phone for almost a week, with a Saturday Lotto Division 1 winning ticket stashed inside his phone case.

The Slikpik 30 was a spur-of-the-moment purchase from The Lucky Charm Noranda and turned into more than $1.6million.

“It’s crazy to think I had the winning ticket at my fingertips all week,” he said.

“I’m still numb and it’s been a blur.”

$30 million prize claimed by golf mates

A northern suburbs syndicate, which started over friends playing golf together, couldn’t believe they held the winning ticket to an OZ Lotto $30 million draw.

The ticket holder checked the ticket online while eating dinner with his wife and couldn’t believe his eyes.

“I started making calls to the rest of the group to tell them we’d won.

“One of the guys didn’t believe me and went back to eating his dinner. Another told me that if it was a prank he’d come over and I’d be in a lot of trouble.”

Thankfully it wasn’t a prank, and after spending the night celebrating the group came to Lotterywest HQ the very next day to claim their prize.
