Will Powerball history be re-written this week?

Lotterywest is expecting over one million tickets to be sold for this week’s Powerball $120 million jackpot.

Thursday’s draw could create Western Australian history should a WA winner take home the entire Division One prize.

WA’s current record is an $80 million Powerball ticket won in December 2021.

Lotterywest spokesperson Lisa Williams said this is the highest jackpot we have seen since 2019 and the second largest jackpot in Australian history.

“If one person takes home this jackpot, Lotto history books could be rewritten,” Ms Williams said.

“The ticket holder would not only be WA’s largest lotto winner but they would also take out the title of the nation’s biggest winner ever,”

“We would love to see a new record set in WA and even better if the record can be shared through a syndicate win.”

“We’re anticipating a rush for tickets between 4pm and 5pm, when we expect a peak in sales of more than 1,000 tickets sold every minute, so we’re encouraging people to buy their tickets early”

This Powerball jackpot run is expected to raise over $22 million for the WA community through the Lotterywest grants program.

Popular ticket types for tonight’s Powerball are a Slikpik 12, Slikpik 18 or a Powerpik 7 which gives you the Powerball number that you need to win Division One.

The highest jackpot in Australian history was when Powerball reached $150 million in September last year and was shared equally between three Eastern States winners who each took home $50 million.

Lotterywest encourages responsible play. A great play option is to get together with family and friends to share the cost of a ticket.

Tickets are available up until 6pm on Thursday evening and can be bought in-store, online or via the app.
