Sleep deprivation urges winner to come forward

WA’s latest millionaire has come forward to claim his prize, driving all day to Perth because he could not sleep.

The winner, from Kalgoorlie, won a cool $1 million on this week’s Wednesday Lotto bought from Kalgoorlie Newsagency.

“I could not get the winning numbers out of my head . . . I just kept repeating them over and over and could not sleep,” he said.

“I drove straight to Lotterywest in the morning.”

In his 50s, the married man said he bought the ticket “on a whim” before heading to the supermarket.

“I’ve got a membership, but I saw the newsagency and thought “why not?” and bought a Slikpik,” he said.

“I’ll keep working but this is a fantastic back up and nice to know that if we need or want to go somewhere, we can.”

Lotterywest spokesperson Hermione Coleman said they were still waiting on two winners to come forward.

A Saturday Lotto ticket worth nearly $588,000 was bought from Carnarvon Lottery News and Gifts and a $1 million Wednesday Lotto ticket from Padbury News and Post.

“Regardless of whether they’ve been naughty or nice, we urge people to check their tickets so we can help give them an early Christmas present,” she said.

Tickets for tomorrow’s Saturday Lotto can be bought in-store, online or through the app.

Players are encouraged to play responsibly.
