Northern suburbs couple celebrate the gift of giving

What goes around comes around.

After years of giving away Lotto tickets to friends and family as gifts – some of them winning tickets - a couple in their 70’s can finally claim a win of their own.

The husband admits he gave his wife a scare after discovering his Silkpik 12 ticket from Kinross Lottery Centre and News was worth around $360,000.

“I slammed both my fists down on the table,” he said.
“My wife was worried I was having a heart attack.”

The husband said previously they had given Lotto tickets away as gifts to family and friends, and some of them had won.

“This win of ours will help with our retirement,” he said.

Lotterywest spokesperson Hermione Coleman said there is still time to grab a ticket in tonight’s draw.

“Million-Yeah Saturday is just like a usual Saturday Lotto draw, where Division One winners share in the estimated $4 million prize pool, however for this draw we are boosting the Division One prize to create more millionaires,” she said.

“If there are eight or less Division One winners and their share of the prize pool is less than $1 million, we’ll top them up to a guaranteed $1 million prize – and we’ll do this for up to eight winners. If there are nine or more Division One winners, they will equally share in $8 million*.”
