A million dollars in a glove box

A Bayswater tradie has spent the past month unaware his glove box was holding more than $1 million.

The 33-year-old’s Saturday Lotto System 8 ticket from Ballajura City Lottery Centre and Post Office for the draw on 21 December is now worth $1,089,093.

“I work away and due to the cyclone up north I was held up over Christmas and New Year,” the winner said.

“I saw in the news Ballajura had a winner, but I didn’t put two and two together.

“Today I was meant to attend a course, but it was postponed so I decided to check my ticket, turns out I’ve had $1 million sitting in my glove box.”

The winner said he’s been playing the same numbers – a mix of family birthdays and his footy number – for the past 18 months.

Lotterywest Spokesperson Jennie Fitzhardinge said it was fantastic to finally meet the missing millionaire.

“As he wasn’t a Lotterywest member, we were unable to put a call in to point out this player’s good fortune,” Ms Fitzhardinge said.

“We are thrilled he decided to check his glove box and pull out something more than a little bit of spare change.

“The next big chance for WA players to win big is Thursday’s $20 million Powerball draw.”

Players can become Lotterywest members online and use their members card instore to register tickets.
