A holiday to remember thanks to Saturday Lotto

A middle-aged woman could indefinitely extend her holiday after claiming last weekend’s $5.1 million Saturday Lotto prize.

When claiming the prize at Lotterywest HQ, the winner said she’d been doing some grocery shopping in town while holidaying in the area when she decided to pick up the Slikpik 25 from Boulevard News Esperance.

“I usually buy a Saturday Lotto ticket wherever I am and I like to support the country towns,” the winner said.

“I was in another town when I heard on the news that the winning ticket was sold from the Esperance newsagency.

“I couldn’t believe that I’d won, I checked the ticket again and again and had a bit of a cry.”

When the ticket holder got back up to Perth, the first stop was Lotterywest HQ.

“I haven’t even been home to unpack the car,” she said.

The winner plans to pay off her mortgage and share the prize money around to help family and friends.

Rochelle Rantanen of Boulevard News Esperance said the experience of selling a Division One ticket has left her staff and customers feeling positive.

“We’ve been congratulated by stores right across the State, all the way up to Broome!” Rochelle said.

Lotterywest also revealed that WA has had a Set for Life streak in November, with nine Division Two winners each taking home $5,000 a month for the next 12 months.

WA players have a chance to join the millionaire’s list in the biggest Saturday Lotto draw of the year, the $30 million Megadraw on 30 December.

Tickets are available in-store, online and via the Lotterywest App until 6pm draw day.
