A Perth couple turned a holiday road trip to the historic mining town of Cue into a $300,000 treasure hunt.
“I used to work in Cue and I love playing Scratch’n’Win, so wherever we stopped, we bought tickets,” the lucky winner said.
The couple’s road trip through WA’s interior and back down the coast created lots of good memories, but it wasn’t until they went back to their favourite Lotterywest retailer that they turned up the Top Prize winning scratchie.
“I am so glad it was Busport Lotteries that had the winning ticket,” the wife said. “They are always so lovely.”
The husband gave credit to his wife.
“I always knew that she would buy the winning ticket,” he said. “And I think she has another win in her yet.”
The couple will use the money to visit family interstate and for the husband, relax into retirement, while the wife will go back to study for a career change.
“I’m so excited that I will be able to pursue my career goals,” the wife said.
“The first place we are going after this is to church to give thanks, then tonight we are going to celebrate with a Japanese meal.”
