An unusual first purchase for Edgewater’s latest millionaire

An Edgewater couple has admitted their first purchase after discovering their $1.6 million Saturday Lotto prize wasn’t a typical one.

The man in his 40s said it was their Slikpik 30 from Woodvale Boulevard News that sent them on their peculiar shopping spree.

“My wife has already been to the shops to buy an air fryer,” he said.

“After that we went home, and I folded the washing.

“When I went to buy the ticket there were two lines, I’m glad I went with my gut and picked not only the faster line, but the winning one.”

The family plans to pay off their mortgage, along with a trip to the Gold Coast.

Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said Perth’s northern corridor has started the year strong.

“To date, we’ve had six WA Division One winners, five of them coming from our northern suburbs,” Mr Mooney said.

“The challenge is now on for our southern suburb players to join our winners list.

“We would love to keep our fast start to 2020 going with Thursday’s $40 million Powerball draw.”
