Koolambidi Woola, Bunbury’s first-ever youth precinct, boasts a multi-sports court, parkour areas, mini golf, a youth services building, beach climbing net, event and performance space and more.
Completed late June 2022 and officially opened to the public in July that year, Koolambidi Woola has allowed for a social hub for young people in the Greater Bunbury area. Offering a place for social connection that is not currently available in Bunbury, and some surrounding towns.
The location of Luciana Park was selected and endorsed with community consultation, including local Wardandi Noongar Elders. Koolambidi Woola translates to ‘celebrating young people’ – Koolambidi meaning ‘young people aged 12 to 25 years’ and Woola meaning ‘celebrate’.
The precinct was made possible thanks to a $2.5 million grant from Lotterywest, recognising the importance of building diversity and cultural appreciation, as well as reducing social isolation. With the support of the WA community, Koolambidi Woola has been able to offer numerous opportunities for youth engagement and help to fill the gap for teenagers, young adults, and support services.
