West Aussies chase tonight’s $80 million Powerball jackpot

Lotto fever is surrounding Lotterywest stores today with close to three quarters of a million tickets expected to be purchased across Western Australia in tonight’s $80 million Powerball jackpot.

The second largest jackpot to be offered in Australia in the game’s 23 year history is creating excitement and anticipation for the players and staff in over 500 Lotterywest stores.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said sales were set to peak between 4pm and 5pm this afternoon.

“During this time, lottery terminals will produce close to 700 tickets every minute,” said Ms Compagnone.

“The top locations players are visiting to pick up their Powerball tickets include the Perth CBD, Morley, Cloverdale, Mandurah and Bunbury.

“Our advice – get your tickets early and be part of what could be a history making jackpot!”

If one player takes out the $80 million prize offer, both local and national Lotto records will be broken.

“We will not only see WA’s largest Lotto prize of $50 million smashed, but also the current national record of $70 million,” said Ms Compagnone.

Powerball has powered to a massive $80 million as a result of no player being able to match the game’s winning numbers and Powerball over the last eight weeks.

Although the multi-million dollar prize is still up for grabs, almost 644,000 WA players have picked up a Powerball prize over the jackpot roll, and more than $14 million has been raised for the WA community thanks to players purchasing Powerball tickets from Lotterywest.

Tickets are available until 6pm today from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.
