WA’s latest Set for Life winner discovers win on work break

Western Australia’s latest Set for Life winner discovered his bank account would receive $20,000 a month for the next 20 years, during his morning break at work.

The news prompted an early finish for the day, as he raced home to tell his wife about the life changing news.

The couple said while they plan to continue to work for now, they will take extended breaks to visit family overseas.

In addition to travel and spending more time with family, home renovations are on the cards for the winning couple.

“We can’t wait to give the house a makeover, after slowly chipping away at renovating the place over the last few years,” he said.

Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said the ticket was purchased with a Lotterywest membership online, which also bumped WA into the Set for Life leader board for 2023.

“This is win number four for WA, which means WA is home to the nation’s most Set for Life Division One winners for 2023,” he said.

“In fact, the highest number of Set for Life Division One winners WA has ever had in a year is three, so it’s fantastic to have already broken that record in February.

“Since Set for Life launched in August 2015, we have celebrated 113 winners across Australia.

“These players are now sharing more than $92 million in prize money.”

Lotterywest is also waiting to hear from the trio of Division One winners from Saturday Lotto’s Superdraw earlier this month, with each of those tickets worth more than $1.25 million.

The next major draw for WA players is Thursday’s $20 million Powerball jackpot.

Tickets are available from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app until 6pm draw day.
