Retirement now a reality for Australind winner

An Australind couple’s favourite numbers have returned them a windfall of more than $659,000, following the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.

They credit Australind News and Post, where they bought the ticket, as their ‘lucky store’ and struck it lucky, after sticking to the same set of numbers for seven years.

“My wife buys the ticket every Friday and I check them on Monday’s,” the man said.

“I call her every time to let her know if we’ve won or not, and if she needs anything from the shops.”

The man discovered the Division One win on his weekly Monday visit and was in disbelief.

“I made everyone in the store check the ticket with me, to be sure,” he laughed.

“Called my wife to let her know…and she didn’t believe me!”

For the couple in their 50’s, dreaming of winning the Lotto is all too familiar. Now that the dream has come true, they said the win will set them up for a stress free life.

“Every week he’d talk about what we’d do if we won.”

“I could tell by the look on his face when he got home, this time was for real”

The windfall will allow them to clear debts, spoil their close family and they won’t be thinking twice before booking their next holiday.

“I can bring my retirement age forward too,” the man said.

“I was only thinking the other day how I’d never get to retire.”

Lotterywest spokesperson Hermione Coleman said the win marks the 50th Division One winner to claim their prize so far this year.

“These winners have shared in over $53 million worth of Division One prizes,” Ms Coleman said.

“We would love to see more WA players on the Divison One tally starting with tonight’s $40 million Powerball draw.

Thanks to our players and more than 500 retailers, Lotterywest supported the Leschenault Catchment Counicl (LCC) Incorporated with more than $29,000 towards equipment and professional fees to support natural resource management across the Leschenault area.
