In WA being Set for Life looks like early retirement and a caravan

WA’s first Set for Life winner for 2020 says he can “sit back and relax” after becoming $20,000 richer a month for 20 years.

The man, in his 60s, said he planned to retire in June but will bring that forward and also buy a caravan over a campervan to begin his travel adventures.

The winner from Geraldton, who purchased his ticket online, said he had used the same numbers for 30 years, and when Set for Life started in 2015 he added the game to his play list.

“I like Set for Life because it’s great value as your ticket is valid for seven days,” he said.

“I couldn’t believe it when I saw all of my numbers come up.

“I was planning on retiring in three months, and didn’t know how I was going to do it just on the pension and the little Super I have, but now I needn’t worry, can retire early, buy a caravan and travel in style.”

Lotterywest spokesperson Hermione Coleman said Set for Life’s game was changing.

“We’re changing the game’s matrix to seven winning numbers out of 44 (it was eight out of 37), which means the odds of winning any prize have improved,” she said.

“Currently Set for Life’s Division Two prize sits at around $6,000, however the new changes will see a new Division Two prize of $5,000 a month for a year.”

She said another chance to win big was in tonight's $40 million Powerball jackpot.

Tickets for the $40 million Powerball jackpot are available until 6pm tonight in-store, online or via the app.
