“I told you so” moment for WA’s latest millionaires.

A Victoria Park man will be giving an unbeatable “I told you so” moment to his wife, after collecting a $1 million Saturday Lotto prize from the weekend’s draw.

The man, in his 70’s, said he’d been playing Saturday Lotto for a number of years and admitted his wife didn’t believe they'd ever actually win.

“I’ve always said to her you’ve got no chance, unless you’re in it,” the man said.

“I’ve stuck it out for a few years now.

“And now I don’t think I’ve taken in the news yet. I’m shocked.”

He said he planed to wait until he got home after work to tell his wife their windfall was worth a life changing $1,075,459 and that he was eager to see her reaction.

He bought the ticket from Eden Hill Newsagency in Bassendean, after detouring to the shops on the way home from work. It was a last-minute gut feeling that lead him to buy the winning ticket.

“I was convinced I’d change up my usual ticket because I‘ve not had much luck with it recently,” he said.

“Got to the counter and changed my mind back to the usual."

He said the million dollar winnings will go towards paying off debts, the mortgage and some other needed items.

Lotterywest’s biggest Saturday Lotto event of the year is just around the corner, with the $30 million Megadraw on Saturday 28 December.

Lotterywest spokesperson Hermione Coleman said WA has produced 56 Division One winners, who have shared in more than $66 million so far this year.

“We’ve had a great year welcoming WA locals into the Winner’s Room,” she said

“Your New Year’s resolution could come true a little early with $30 million up for grabs in the Megadraw before we close the year.”

Tickets for the $30 million Megadraw are available until 6pm Saturday from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.
