‘Not the reaction I expected’ says Saturday Lotto winner

A couple from Perth’s eastern suburbs have confessed some guidance from a clairvoyant may have played a role their Division One win.

The couple were told they were likely to come into some money, in the shape of $500,000 to $600,000.

“So we bought a lottery ticket, won a small amount and then used that money to buy another Saturday Lotto ticket,” the winner said.

“It was totally out of the blue.

“I always thought if we won it would be high fives and champagne, but instead we sat there like stunned mullets.”

Whether it was a coincidence or a prediction, fortunately the psychic got the amount wrong as the couple’s ticket from Carramar Lottery Centre and News in Morley won them more than $866,700.

Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said stories from Division One players were never the same.

“This week alone I’ve heard from a player who had their million dollar ticket in their glovebox for a month and another who has used the same numbers for 31 years,” Mr Mooney said.

“Tonight’s another chance for WA players to join our 2020 winners list as Powerball has jackpotted to $20 million.

“The unique thing about Lotterywest is it’s the only State Government owned and operated lottery in Australia, with the money raised from ticket sales going back into the WA community.”

Thanks to Lotterywest players, an unused space in Morley has been transformed into a vibrant youth and community activity hub due to an $87,026 grant.
