Community Investment Framework

Lotterywest and Healthway grants provide support for Western Australia’s health, sports and arts sectors, as well as hundreds of local government authorities and not-for-profit groups to enable their valuable contribution to the community.

The coming together of Lotterywest and Healthway created an opportunity to align our grant making, and build synergies to maximise our community support through a shared Community Investment Framework.

The Framework is designed to achieve our visions by setting five priority areas and desired outcomes to benefit the Western Australian community. The Framework will measure impact, incorporating mechanisms to show what was achieved, and how the community benefited.

Understanding the positive impact our grants make in the community means we know how we are helping to build a better and healthier Western Australia.

Priority Areas

Community Investment Framework v9

Communities are diverse and unique and we provide support through our grants to connect, thrive and share new ways of doing things better. The Priority Areas provide a way for Healthway and Lotterywest to work with your organisation to bring about positive community change in five key areas:

  • Active Healthy People – Healthway’s priority area for the WA community to be more active, live healthy lifestyles and be mentally healthy.
  • Protected Sustainable Ecosystems – Lotterywest’s priority area to help sustain and enhance our unique species and environments.
  • Inclusive Thriving Community – Lotterywest’s priority area to help support the diversity of Western Australians and create active engagement in community life.
  • Connected Cultural Experiences – Lotterywest’s priority area to help bring people together through the arts, heritage and cultural activities.
  • Smart Innovative Society – Lotterywest’s priority area to optimise our community's talent and capability.

Outcomes have been developed for each priority area to guide our grant making and increase our understanding of how we improve the lives of people in WA; protect our heritage; conserve our environment; and to develop new ways of sharing knowledge.

We will work with you to understand the issue your project is addressing, and how it will help to achieve particular outcomes for the community.

Lotterywest and Healthway will continue to work alongside organisations to provide guidance through the application process. You can find out more about the Community Investment Framework by talking with your Lotterywest Grants contact person, your Healthway Program Officer or through our  FAQs. We are always keen to hear about your grant idea and explore ways we might provide support.
