Buddha’s belly brings luck to 15 WA Lotto players

Members of a WA based 15 share Lotto syndicate have won Division 1 in last weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.

The syndicate was organised by Brighton Village Newsagency in Butler. Each of the 15 members will take home $67,546.

David Babington, store manager at Brighton Village Newsagency, hoped many of the winners were long term customers.

“We are encouraging all customers to check their tickets,” said David.

Brighton Village Newsagency has sold a number of Top Prize winning Scratch’n’Win tickets but this is their first Division 1 Lotto win.

“Customers like to rub their tickets on our Buddha statue for good luck and maybe that’s what did the trick on Saturday night,” said David.

“Since the win we’ve been busy with customers looking for a lucky ticket for this Saturday’s $20 million Superdraw.”

“Customers have been coming in to purchase cards and gifts like scratchies and Lotto tickets for Valentine’s Day.”

The latest Division 1 win takes WA’s winners tally up to 13 for the year. These players have shared in almost $12 million in prizes.

It’s not only WA’s Lotto winners who benefit following a draw, the local community benefits too with $283 million going back to support the WA community last financial year.

Groups to receive this support include the City of Wanneroo for the construction of the new Quinns-Mindarie Community Centre. The City of Wanneroo was given a $700,000 Lotterywest Grant in December.
