$5.70 Lotto ticket turns elated Morley family into millionaires

Saturday night’s Lotto winners have taken family photos inside the Winners Room and claimed a $1,020,496 Division 1 prize from their ticket purchased from The Lucky Charm News Noranda.

The young family from Morley spent only $5.70 on their ticket which won on numbers they’ve been playing every week for the past 18 years.

“It’s like being in a movie, it just doesn’t feel real!” said the elated family.

When they checked their ticket at a Lotterywest store they were told they would need to visit Head Office for payment. The family knew their prize must have been at least $500 and not realising their ticket had turned them into millionaires, decided anything above $500 would be a bonus!

The winners shed a few tears inside the Winners Room after finding out how much they’d won and shared the dreams they would now be able to fulfil.

“We’d been talking about a trip for years and recently planned it but we had to cancel because we just didn’t have the money to go. Now we’ll be able to go,” said the father.

“We can finally get a car that’s big enough to fit our family in it too!”

The winners said their prize money would also make their children’s lives easier, enable them to pay off their house and help family members.

“I won’t have to work so much either, it’s amazing,” said the father.

It’s not only WA’s Lotto winners who benefit following a draw, the local community benefits too with 34 cents out of every dollar spent on Lotterywest Games going back to support the WA community.

The RSL in the Bedford-Morley area received a $12,955 Lotterywest Grant in November. These funds will be used towards air-conditioning units to provide an all year comfortable meeting place for the RSL sub branch.
