Search for Wanneroo winner

A couple from Gnangara said they had no idea Lotterywest were on the lookout for the owner of a winning Set for Life ticket worth $20,000 a month for 20 years.

The ticket from Wanneroo Winners Lotto Kiosk matched the numbers to the life changing prize last month, with the search for the ticket dragging on for more than two weeks.

“It had been in my wallet the whole time,” the winner said.

“I am known for losing my wallet and I was leaving it all over the place the past week.”

The couple plan to let the dust settle before deciding what to do with the win, however their first port of call was rather simple.

“We’re celebrating with champagne and chicken nuggets,” they said.

“On top of our most recent Set for Life winner, WA was also home to another two Division One winners from Saturday Lotto’s draw,” she said.

One of the Saturday Lotto winners is a Ravensthorpe man, who assumed the Lotterywest terminal wasn’t switched on when a strange message popped up while checking his Saturday Lotto ticket. Following the draw, he checked his ticket in-store through the Lotterywest terminal.

“I put my ticket into the machine, and nothing came up, I asked the retailer ‘have you turned the machine on yet?’”

The retailer took the player aside to assure him the machine was on and he needed to contact Lotterywest HQ.

“I just went out to buy the newspaper and my Lotto tickets and it was the right ticket,” he said

The prize, worth more than $852,000, was one of two Division One prizes sold in the draw. The owner of the other winning ticket from Ballajura News has also come forward.
