OZ Lotto Division One tally grows

A southern suburbs couple have won the largest WA lotto win for 2020 after taking out a share in OZ Lotto's $30 million draw. After seeing on the news that a winning ticket had been sold at Nova Newsagency in Perth, the wife “had a feeling” it could be them, as this is where she buys their weekly tickets.

“About two months ago my wife said she was going to stop buying OZ Lotto and Powerball and just buy Saturday Lotto, because we’d had a run of numbers nowhere close to winning,” the husband said.

“I told her to hold off on that for now – and two weeks later, we won.”

In his 60s, the retired driver said the win would not change their life but would significantly change the lives of their family and friends.

“They’ll all get a substantial amount, but for now just my wife and I will celebrate by having a drink on the deck at Coco’s,” he said.

The Division One prize pool was split four ways, with New South Wales producing one of the Division One tickets, while Victoria was home to the remaining two.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said this was an exciting moment for WA players.

“Not only have we welcomed our largest Lotto win for 2020 – it’s also the fourth on the OZ Lotto game,” she said.

“Tuesday's win has overtaken this year’s previous record of $5.8 million also on OZ Lotto from July.”

A further 74,168 other WA players collected a prize in Tuesday's jackpot across the other Divisions. WA’s Division One winners tally has now reached 68 for 2020, with winners sharing in over $81 million in prizes.
