Pensioners collect $1 million, as search for $10 million WA winner continues

A married couple from Greenfields has claimed last night’s $1 million Division One prize, on the back of two life changing evenings for Western Australian Lotto.

The couple, in their 70s, said the sleepless night was all worth it once they settled into the ‘Winners Room’ couch.

The stunned wife, said she had to wipe her tears of joy off the winning ticket as she realised they’d struck riches by circling all six winning numbers.

“We definitely handed the ticket back and forth to one another a few times before deciding we weren’t seeing things,” she said.

“We’ll be living the rest of our lives very happily and with a big smile on our faces.”

On the couple’s bucket list was visiting relatives overseas, treating their kids and splurging on some home renovations.

“We won’t have to wait for the pension every fortnight,” the husband said.

“We’re going to buy brand spanking new items – new car, bed, even new gutters – why not?

“We’ll be giving the kids a fair chunk too.

“I hope they don’t expect anything more for Christmas!” he joked.

Meanwhile WA’s $10 million OZ Lotto ticket, sold at Clark’s Newsagency in Albany, remains unclaimed. The winning ticket scooped Tuesday’s night’s entire Division One jackpot.

Tonight’s $8 million Powerball jackpot will pose the question - can WA provide a trifecta of Division One winners in three days?

Tickets are available until 6pm tonight from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.

So far this year, 39 Division One winners have taken home prizes across the State sharing in almost $91 million.
