About Lotterywest Grants

We're extremely fortunate in Western Australia to have the only lottery in the nation, and one of the few in the world, where all profits are returned back to the community.

Thanks to our players, we’re able to support the WA community with Lotterywest grants.

We’re committed to making an enduring positive impact on the lives of Western Australians through our grants. These grants are guided by our vision for a hopeful, healthy, connected and sustainable community life for all Western Australians.

You can read more about the latest Lotterywest grant recipients and how they're making a real difference in the community by visiting our Grant recipients page.

Community Investment Framework

Achieving more impact

Community Investment Framework

We have a Community Investment Framework to help us achieve our Vision.

Our Lotterywest grants team carefully assesses each grant application on its potential impact and benefit to the WA community. We work closely with organisations to ensure Lotterywest grant funding is used meaningfully - creating lasting, positive change for Western Australians.

Good Practice Requirements

Maximising the positive impact

Good Practice Requirements

To help maximise the positive impact of our grants in the WA community, we’ve developed a set of Good Practice Requirements. These are designed to help organisations in promoting practices that are inclusive, sustainable, safe for children, promote a healthy lifestyle, and respectful of Aboriginal peoples.

Our team is here to help you meet these requirements, including helping you consider any associated costs.

We also encourage grant recipients to engage with those who will benefit from, or be affected by, their initiative to make sure their needs are considered when designing their initiative.

You are an eligible organisation if you’re:

  • a not-for-profit organisation (i.e. none of the profits go to owners or shareholders); or

Smaller not-for-profits may prefer to be auspiced by an eligible organisation. Contact us for more information if you are considering this approach.

Your organisation also needs to:

  • be an Australian entity and operating within Western Australia;
  • not be operating on behalf of the State or Federal Government;
  • have the authority to undertake the proposed grant activities; or
  • have an organisational structure that does not allow for the distribution of profit or personal gain during operation and/or in the event of wind up.

Lotterywest can support initiatives with outcomes that link to the Community Investment Framework. The initiative must also result in public benefit for the WA community.

Grants can be used to support income-generating activities if they are working towards an outcome in the Community Investment Framework and have a clear public benefit.
