Armadale Division One winner thought she’d won $17

A young Armadale family are the first of four Saturday Lotto Division One winners to claim their prize.

Their Systems 8 ticket from Armadale Newsagency is worth $651,836.

The family, who have only ever bought a handful of tickets, admitted this was the first time they had used these numbers, which were based off birthdays.

“I’m not a regular player so I didn’t really realise how much I’d won, I thought it was $17,” she said.

“I was ecstatic, absolutely ecstatic when I found out how much it was.”

The selfless winners said their first thought was to share the money with close family.

“This will help all of us to pay off our mortgages and go on our first family holiday.”

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said the family was proof a Division One prize could happen to anyone.

“Earlier this year, there was a winner who had used the same numbers for more than 30 years, as for our latest winner it turns out first time was the charm,” Ms Compagnone said.

“We’re still waiting to hear from the weekend’s other three winners who purchased their tickets from Hillary’s, Secret Harbour and an online account.

“Each ticket is worth $642,600.”

There’s $2 million up for grabs in tonight’s OZ Lotto draw, meanwhile if no one wins Wednesday’s Lotto Division One prize, Divisions Two to Six will share in $1 million.

Tickets can be bought up until 6pm tonight in-store, online or via the app.

Players are encouraged to play responsibly and spend only what they can afford.
