Once, twice, 31 times the Lotto winning charm

A High Wycombe grandmother has won $874,000 on Saturday Lotto after 31 years of playing the same numbers.

The woman who works in the disability sector said the life-changing win could easily have turned into a disaster.

“A couple of weeks ago I marked one of my numbers wrong, so if I had done that this week it would have been heart ache,” she said.

Fortunately her System 7 ticket from High Wycombe News and Lotteries had her usual numbers.

System 7 tickets also pay out on lower divisions which meant her $867,000 Division One prize grew into more than $874,000.

“The day before Saturday’s draw my partner had arranged for my two grandkids to come from over east to surprise me, so I already felt like I was on a winning streak.”

A new house in the Perth Hills and a trust fund for her grandchildren are just some of her plans.

Lotterywest Spokesperson Jennie Fitzhardinge said the win marks WA’s fourth Division One winner for 2020.

“A Division One ticket in last Saturday’s draw was also sold from Carramar Lottery Centre and News in Morley,” Ms Fitzhardinge said.

“It is thanks to regular players like our winner that Lotterywest is able to give so much back to Western Australian community initiatives, so it is great that her loyalty has paid off.

“In the last financial year $282 million went back to the community in grants and $454 million in prizes.”
