Wet weather and a rare $130 million jackpot

Lotterywest is hoping another rainy spell across Perth could lead to a Western Australian winner in tonight’s $50 million OZ Lotto jackpot.

The last time a West Aussie took home a Division One prize in OZ Lotto was in May, when a Parmelia man’s efforts to avoid being drenched in a storm guided him to an OZ Lotto prize of almost $2.5 million.

This week boasts an incredible $130 million on offer across two big jackpots – tonight’s $50 million OZ Lotto draw, followed by an $80 million Powerball draw on Thursday.

Lotterywest spokesperson Pina Compagnone said this rare jackpot run totalling $130 million, has only happened three times in the past two years.

“As tonight’s 6pm deadline to buy a ticket in OZ Lotto’s $50 million jackpot approaches, we’re encouraging players to get their tickets early,” Ms Compagnone said.

“A ticket rush is expected between 4pm and 5pm, when more than 350 tickets will be sold each minute.”

Ms Compagnone said when jackpots start to soar, there’s never a better time to be part of a syndicate, which can boost your odds of winning without breaking your budget.

"Along with the excitement of these jackpots is the fact more money is then raised for the WA community for the Lotterywest COVID-19 Relief Fund.”

Over the last month of OZ Lotto jackpotting, over $4 million has been raised for the WA community through the COVID-19 Relief Fund. A further $2 million will be raised in tonight’s draw.

Combo packs are available for $30 from Lotterywest in-store and include tickets for both the OZ Lotto and Powerball jackpots.

Tickets can also be purchased from Lotterywest online or via the app.
