WA’s Megadraw winner claims $2 million prize

A Perth man in his 60s is letting the news sink in after claiming his share of the $30 million Division One prize in Saturday Lotto’s Megadraw over the weekend.

The System 7 ticket was purchased from Dog Swamp Newsagency in Yokine and is worth $2 million.

When asked how he found out that he’d won, the ticket holder confessed to checking the draw results on his phone under the table while out to dinner with his wife.

“I thought, ‘what are my numbers doing there?’ Then my mind just went totally blank,” he said.

“I’ve been playing my numbers for 40 years, but never expected a Division One win.

“I’ve always been excited if I got three or four numbers, and I’m happy knowing that the money I spend goes to grants anyway.”

The good news keeps coming for WA players after a southwest couple also recently came forward to claim last week's Monday Lotto Division One winning ticket.

The Slikpik 18 was sold from Sea Change News in Dunsborough and is worth the $1 million Division One prize.

The ticket holder said she saw online that Sea Change News had sold the Division One winning ticket, and instantly had a feeling that it was hers.

After searching the entire house, including the rubbish bin, she found the ticket with her grocery receipt.

"I started shaking and couldn't read the numbers properly, I couldn't keep my hand still," she said.

Lotterywest spokesperson Emma Rogers said that these latest WA winners bring the tally to 45 for 2023.

“West Aussies have another chance to join the winners’ list this weekend by getting a ticket in Saturday Lotto’s special $10 million event,” she said.

Tickets are available in-store, online and via the Lotterywest App before 6pm on Saturday.
