This weekend one lucky mum received a Mother’s Day present that will keep on giving.
Her husband had bought her a Lotterywest Mother’s Day gift pack from Doogues Lucky Lotteries on behalf of their family.
The Slikpik 25 included the winning numbers for a $3.3 million share in Saturday’s $20 million Superdraw.
“After being told by our local newsagent this morning that I needed to call Lotterywest, I went home and checked the numbers - I couldn’t believe it when I circled all six on one line,” she said.
She then called her husband, who was just as shocked.
“There are two things you don’t think will happen to you – one is a life-threatening accident and the other is winning Lotto,” the husband said.
“I’ve had both happen to me and I still can’t quite believe it!”
Two years ago he had been involved in a serious traffic accident which he says he was lucky to come through.
“I was in hospital and had to have three months off work, but I’ve come through ok,” he said.
“I still can’t believe we’ve had this luck.”
The lucky mum said she hadn’t even scratched the Scratch ‘n’ Win ticket yet.
The family will pay off their mortgage and car loan, will freely enjoy a long-planned holiday and defer any other big decisions until they’ve fully processed the win.
The owner of Doogues Lucky Lottery on Murray St, Ruchit Shah said he also felt very lucky to have sold the winning ticket.
“We only took over the business on May 4th, which is also my birthday,” Mr Shah said.
“We sold so many of those Mother’s Day gift packs, I am so happy that one of them was a winner!”
Lotterywest spokesperson Jennie Fitzhardinge said the community also won big thanks to Saturday’s Superdraw.
“When Western Australians play with Lotterywest, the benefits stay in WA,” Ms Fitzhardinge said.
“Last Saturday’s Superdraw raised more than $3 million for the WA community and will be used for all sorts of projects from local playgroups and men’s sheds to large organisations like RSL WA and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.”
