Syndicates for the win ahead of $100 million Powerball jackpot

A northern suburbs man has found himself among WA’s Division One winners for 2022 after deciding to buy a share in a Lotterywest network syndicate ticket for the Monday Lotto draw on 3 October 2022.

The draw produced three Division One winning tickets across the nation, each worth $1 million, with WA’s winning ticket being a network syndicate seeing the prize shared amongst 10 people.

Each share, worth $100,000, was sold from stores across the State from as far north as Hedland in the Pilbara, right down to Manjimup in the Southwest.

One of the recent Division One syndicate winners said it was his first time buying into a network syndicate.

“I’m a regular Lotto player and usually buy online, but I happened to be in the store last week and decided to buy into a syndicate,” he said.

“When I checked the numbers after the draw I was in absolute shock, it’s my first Division One win.”

Lotterywest spokesperson Alana Christian said Lotterywest network syndicates are a great way to play Lotto.

“A network syndicate is set up by our Customer Services team here at Lotterywest HQ and is made available for any Lotterywest Retailer to sell shares in,” she said.

“A network syndicate is a great way to share the cost of a ticket, increase your odds of winning, and spread the joy of winning across several people.

“We see a significant spike in syndicate sales when jackpots go north of $80 million, so it’s likely we will see this trend ahead of this week’s Powerball jackpot.”

Powerball has soared to a phenomenal $100 million for this week’s draw marking the second biggest jackpot offered by any Australian lottery game so far this year.

Visit your local Lotterywest Retailer to discuss what network syndicates are on offer with tickets available until 6pm the night of the draw.

This week is Gambling Harm Awareness Week (17 – 23 October) and Lotterywest encourages all players to play responsibly and spend only what they can afford.
