Scratchie player at odds with $200,000 windfall

An unusual strategy has helped an Alexander Heights woman to a $200,000 Scratch’n’Win prize win.

The woman in her 50s set off a stream of tears when she discovered her $20 Cash is King ticket from Ballajura News had the Top Prize.

“I ask for an odd or even numbered ticket depending on the date, in this case the date was an even number, so the ticket number had to be even,” she said.

“I scratched the ticket in my car, when I discovered I’d won I went back into the store to check. I didn’t believe it.

“The retailer was crying, I was crying, I then called my husband and made him cry.”

A holiday is now on the cards for the couple.

Lotterywest Spokesperson James Mooney said the past couple of months had seen Ballajura produce not one, but two life changing wins in the suburb.

“This is the second player I’ve spoken to in the Winner’s Room who has bought a ticket from Ballajura,” Mr Mooney said.

“The other player was a tradesman who left his Saturday Lotto ticket worth more than $1 million, in his glove box for a month.”

Lotterywest is unique in Australia as all money raised goes back to the Western Australian community through our grants program.
