Scarborough family celebrate $2.3 million win with baked beans on toast.

A Scarborough couple have come forward as the owners of the missing $2.3 million Saturday Lotto Division One prize from Michael's Health Care Chemist in Wembley.

The reason for not picking up the prize sooner was simply because the winner’s Slikpik 12 sat in his pocket for a whole week during the festive season.

“I went to the shops to grab some milk bread and eggs and thought I better check this,” he said.

“At first I thought we might have won Division Two or three,” he said.

Not wanting to get too excited until they visited Lotterywest to confirm the ticket was a multimillion prize, the couple kept their feet firmly on the ground.

“We still had baked beans on toast for dinner,” the winner said.

Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said it was fantastic to see the winners come forward.

“I’m just glad the winner didn’t jump in the pool or wash his trousers before checking the ticket,” he said.

“We would love this good news for WA to continue ahead of Tonight’s $50 million Powerball draw.”wi

Meanwhile, WA recorded its second Division One winner for 2024, thanks to an online ticket matching the numbers to a $1 million prize in last night’s Wednesday Lotto’s draw.

Tickets for Thursday’s $50 million Powerball draw are available in-store, online and via the Lotterywest App until 6pm Thursday.
