Powerball soars to record-breaking $160 million

Powerball has soared to a record-breaking $160 million jackpot, the highest jackpot ever in the history of any Australian Lotto game.

The previous record was $150 million won in 2019 by three eastern states winners, who each took home $50 million.

While no one across the country matched tonight’s winning numbers, more than 500,000 WA winners shared in over $9.4 million worth of prizes across the other Divisions.

This included two Division Two tickets worth $139,000 sold at Summerfield News and Lotto in Girrawheen and Winner's Circle Lottery Centre in Cloverdale.

It’s an historic moment to see the jackpot get to this level, Lotterywest spokesperson Alana Christian said.

“$160 million is the highest jackpot in Powerball history. This is a once-in-a-lifetime event,” she said.

“WA loves to support a big jackpot, and this one will provide significant benefit to the WA community.”

Thanks to those players who supported the jackpot over the last five weeks, Lotterywest has raised more than $16 million in community grants and support for our WA health, arts and sports sectors.

Lotterywest have crunched the numbers to produce some hot tips about the game, ahead of the highest jackpot ever.

Numbers

  • The most frequently drawn winning numbers from the main barrel are 17, 9, 2 and 25, while the least frequently drawn are 33, 31, 34 and 6.
  • The most frequently drawn Powerball number is 19, while the least frequently drawn Powerball numbers are 18, 16 and 14.

Ticket types

  • The top three ticket types are Slikpik 12, Powerpik 7 and a Slikpik 18.

  • You can increase your chances of winning by teaming up with a syndicate where you can share the cost of more games.

  • This equates to half of West Aussie adults having a ticket in next week’s draw.

Lotterywest encourages responsible play. A great play option is to get together with family and friends to share the cost of a ticket and the joy of winning.
